The LTE pilot the market leader Swisscom goes into commercial operation. For the start of tomorrow, Thursday online already some LTE-capable smartphones are listed. For over a year, customers can test LTE in certain areas. The pilot was extended in early June of this year, again. The trial period expires at the end of the year.

According to the Swisscom mobile volume of data transferred in the network currently doubling every 16 months. Thanks to LTE and the associated higher capacity Swisscom is the rising demand for data volume requirements.

Through the commercial launch tomorrow, Thursday builds the Swiss mobile communications company’s technology leadership claims to be continued. Swisscom brings LTE Category 4 (= 150 Mbit / s) for now in 26 locations and is in the transmission of the 4G signal on the frequencies 800, 1800 and 2600 MHz. Also informs the Carrier: By the end of 2013, 70% of the Confederates to use the new network.

LTE Stick Huawei E398 is the first LTE terminal can build in all frequency bands used in Germany an LTE link. The Internet stick can therefore use both the rural employed frequency at 800 MHz, as well as those used in the cities of frequencies at 1.8 and 2.6 GHz. This LTE stick is therefore a real innovation and a very safe investment for the buyer.

There where no LTE is available, the Huawei E398 and UMTS / HSPA / HSPA + and GSM (quad-band 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) switch. In dual-carrier HSPA + data rates of up to 42 Mbit / s downlink possible. LTE can theoretically with data rates up to 100 Mbit / s downlink and 50 Mbit / s can be achieved in the uplink. These data rates, however, if ever achieved due to the higher channel bandwidth only at the frequencies of 1.8 and 2.6 GHz in the cities.

The LTE-Stick Huawei E398 is with Vodafone and Telecom under different names in supply, it is called Vodafone K5005, at Telekom LTE Speed Stick. Both units are identical. The model shown here (E398u-15) is the LTE Speed Stick by Telekom.

The stick makes an overall impression properly processed. The mechanics at the USB port, with which one can get the stick in a vertical, space-saving position has remained relatively stable. On page two CONNECTIONS for external antennas are provided, which is necessary so that the stick LTE MIMO technology can make use of, the requirement for very high data rates. Between the two antenna ports, a microSD card slot is for cards up to 32GB.

As you can see from the pictures, the Huawei E398 on the dimensions (92 mm x 31.5 mm x 14.4 mm) is slightly larger than a conventional UMTS stick. The folding mechanism that disturbs but no further.

At the Telekom to the LTE Stick Huawei E398 is now available and can be ordered with or without contract. Without a contract, the costs 149.95 euros stick with the contract, he is dependent on the collective model much cheaper, for example, here is the price in conjunction with the web’n'walk Connect L Premium at 4.95 euros. The 800 MHz frequencies are available in the mobile phone tariffs are not yet available, until October 2011 is the 800MHz network for mobile subscribers open which has undergone maxwireless.de from Telekom spokesman Alexander Graf von Schmettow.

The stick can be extremely easy to take on Windows 7 with plug and play by self-installing software and drivers running. With an LED status display the current network and the operating conditions is displayed:

LED status display:

=> 2 x green LED flashing = ON (LED blinks green fast = not separate firmware update, connection!)

=> 1 x green LED flashes = 2G Registration

=> LED green = 2G connection

=> 1 x blue LED flashes = 3G Registration

=> LED green = 3G connection

=> LED flashes 1 x cyan = LTE Registration

=> LED cyan = HSPA-/LTE-Verbindung

The first thing to know is that all 3G dongles do not work with our tablets.

You must make sure you have a USB compatible, to try to identify the model of the chipset (internal chip).

The following models are “normally” supported:

Huawei E180 – E261 – E220 – E1750 – E156G (WCDMA model)
ZTE MF637U (model WCDMA)
1901D HSDPA (WCDMA model)
CDMA2000 – huawei EC211 – ZTE AC2736

Feature, we have a 3G dongle “that works like a huawei E1750″ (according to the manufacturer) and is not listed BUT that works perfectly!

So if you have a modem that is not listed, test!

Important thing, when you use your key to start 3g on a tablet, it can not work. Keys 3g embark a small internal memory that contains the key driver and program management key. If you connect your windows key, you have an “invitation” has installed the program and the driver that appears.

This function: it must block.

Currently, I manage to block the function keys based on Huawei chipset.

If you can not block this function, please send us your key, we will do it for you.

Once you have properly configured 3G (sim card inserted in the device and the disabled):

For SUPERPAD III – Flytouch III 10 ”

Disable the wi-fi settings (wireless networks tab => uncheck wi-fi).

Sure to use the launcher pro (pressing home – button at the top of the shelf) and you should see this screen:

Choose Launcher pro.

You arrive at this screen:

Down the middle of the screen, you can see “3G apps on-off” start. If this is the first time you run this script, it will ask permission “super user” accept by clicking “allow”.

Connect the USB.

Leave qq android seconds (20-30 seconds).

Go to the settings tab “Wireless & networks” => mobile => name of access points.

The you should see this screen:

As you can see “internet.proximus.be” is checked (green circle), it is the 3G access your provider. (See for yourself and another for mobistar)

Return to the previous screen => settings => tab “Wireless & networks” => mobile => and check “data enabled”.

Wait a few moments (perhaps long) and you should see the 3G icon will activate as this screen:

At this stage, I happened to have the tablet that plant. No worries, we restart the tablet and logically you should be able to use 3g.

Scroll down and you get this:

Remaplcer “unicom” your APN (access point name) for proximus internet.proximus.be it is for others to ask your 3G provider.

Click connect.

You should see this:

At this stage, I happened to have a crash the tablet, restart the tablet – you never know.

Once reboot and 3G connected, return to Settings => Wireless and network => 3G network settings and click the connection that you created and then “connect”.

The topic of LTE frequencies is particularly topical at the moment and the confusion is great. Some devices still are presented that support only a subset of frequencies in use in Germany – a big annoyance for the end, because not every where LTE is on it, is there really LTE. In this article I will give a brief overview of the currently used in Europe LTE frequencies and also again explain the pros and cons as well as the applications of the various frequency ranges.

LTE in Europe – Germany is a pioneer

While Germany is in the availability of fiber only in the middle is seen worldwide, we are in the development of fourth generation mobile LTE right up there. The major frequencies around 800 MHz of digital dividend was auctioned in April 2010, late 2010 saw the first commercial LTE services. Many other countries in Europe are more than 2 years behind schedule – as in England and Austria were not even the 800 megahertz spectrum auction. All in all crystallized out, however, that three LTE frequencies dominate in Europe: 800, 1800 and 2600 megahertz . Few countries additionally use other frequencies, such as the table below illustrates. Even when modulation method prevails largely consensus here is almost entirely on FDD set (Frequency Division Duplex) as the TDD (Time Division Duplex) method rarely is used. The speed is most networks from 100 to 150 megabits / s downstream, corresponding to LTE Category 3 or Category 4 ( LTE categories overview ). Now to the table – here are all the countries, in which there is already or LTE networks where LTE will start soon:

LTE frequencies and its application

As shown in the table above, in Germany LTE800, LTE1800 and LTE2600 is used. However, the frequencies are not shared equally by the network operator, but were granted at an auction. These data show that only Vodafone, Telefonica O2 and the German Telekom to use the coveted 800 megahertz frequencies. But why is LTE800 so important? Compared to LTE1800 LTE2600 and it offers a much better range and better penetration of buildings.It’s worth it for the providers especially in the country money, because they will have to change a few locations on LTE and move less fiber optic lines, as would be the case for example with pure 2600 MHz networks. With LTE800 so large areas are relatively low potential development.

But LTE800 has some disadvantages: the immense reach the cells are much larger and so in the future also overloaded quickly than cells in the 2600 MHz band. Also, the available radio spectrum – only about 10 MHz for the downlink. and upstream to 800 MHz – is compared to LTE1800 or LTE2600 quite low and ensures a lower capacity and lower maximum speeds. The Germans give operators for their 800 MHz networks, for example, only a maximum speed of 50 Mbit / s downstream, at 1800 and 2600 MHz networks will contrast with up to 100 MBit / s advertised.

The 1800 MHz frequency is currently used only by Telekom, although E-Plus has corresponding spectrum and in the future could be used for LTE expansion. The 1800 MHz frequency has proved fortunate for the Telekom emerged as some devices such as the Apple iPhone 5, the iPad and the iPad Mini 4 enables LTE1800 only. The mainly used in larger cities 1800 MHz LTE offers in comparison to LTE2600 a much better range and building penetration possible by up to 20 MHz of spectrum in both the download and upload speeds, but significantly higher. Also, the 2600 MHz band offers enough spectrum and therefore high maximum bandwidth, but the range is extremely limited and the small cells accordingly. LTE2600 is therefore only for the optimization of the supply in cities – for the basic service operators Vodafone and O2 also set in big cities on the 800 MHz band.

Huawei has just unveiled the Honor 2 – a quad-core packing Android smartphone with a 4.5-inch Retina display.

To make it a worthy successor to the Honor and to keep up with the competition, Huawei made sure that the Honor 2 sits comfortably in the “high-end” space. For starters, the Honor 2 has a 4.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 which calculates to 326 ppi, the same pixel density as the iPhone 5.

Running under the hood is an in-house K3V2 1.4GHz quad-core chip, 2GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage with microSD support. Other specs include an 8 megapixel camera that can record videos up to 1080p, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing and a 2230 mAh battery that promises 72 hours of standby. The Honor 2 will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box but is expected to be upgraded to Jellybean soon.

The Huawei Honor 2 will be available in the Chinese market in early November with a price tag of 1,888 yuan or approximately Php12,500. Not bad for a quad-core phone, eh?
