Price on HP TouchPad tablet falls to $99.99

Well, that didn’t take long. It’s only been a day since HP broadcasted its aim to discontinue production of webOS apparatus, and it seems like the outfit’s currently throwing its flagship tablet in the cut-rate bin. PreCentral takes note that HP issued a memo to its affiliates inquiring them to reduce the cost of the ill-fated TouchPad to $99 and $149 for the 16GB and 32GB editions, respectively. The designated day evidently put forward by HP is August 20th, but not less than two Canadian retailers (Best Buy and Future Shop) have currently made the reduction — though both outlets reveal the sale finish August 22nd. It has been proved that the white 64GB edition has appeared on HP’s US site, we should wonder: why now? If all of that isn’t sufficient to turn your smile upside down, webOSroundup is playing the bearer of awful rumors, with what they say is an interior memo from AT&T asserting that the carrier’s launch of the Pre 3 has been “completely cancelled.”

Update: Looks like the SlickDeals forums folks have found out a way to convey those Canadian charges down south, and are describing that they will be official in the US on Saturday morning.
